Nashvillians have become accustomed to seeing cranes in the sky in many neighbourhoods. We have loved watching the city change over the years. Nashville is vibrant, welcoming and distinctly charming and we are so glad to share it with those born and raised here, as well as the countless people who have decided to call Nashville their new home. Many companies, such as Google, Microsoft, Uber and Airbnb, have either extended their work-from-home policies by a year, or have offered employees the option indefinitely. While some of us have offices that are chic, spacious and complete with stunning views, others have set up creative little nooks in their kitchen or living room. According to a survey by Zillow, most Americans working from home say they would consider moving to a different home with more space or a dedicated office if they continue working from home in the long term. Listings mentioning a home office have increased by 10%. Having a space to work at home is now an important consideration for many, just as location and length of the morning commute have always been. Are you working remotely? According to experts at Harvard Medical, in the Fall, only a minority of people actually get that promised extra hour of sleep. Due to a disruption of our circadian rhythm, for up to a week after the time change, many people wake up earlier, have more trouble falling asleep, and are more likely to wake up during the night. The good news is there are some tips to help make “falling back” a little easier. Try these: •Expose yourself to as much natural light as you can during the daytime and keep your sleeping space dark at bed •If you’re planning to exercise this week, see if you can workout in the morning - it will help you feel more alert during the day •While it might be tempting to have an extra cup of coffee in the afternoon, caffeine late in the day could make it more difficult to sleep at night We hope these tips help get your whole family acclimated this week.
